Keeping multiple favorites together in a file
You can save lots of related favorites together in a filing cabinet.A number of buildings including the Business and Library contain these. These filing cabinets store up to 70 related links in each and sort the links alphabetically. To add a link to a filing cabinet:
- Enter the filing cabinet by clicking on it.
- Open the option bar if it is not already visible.
- Click on the add button.
- Add a favorite as above.
- Confirm that you wish to add this favorite to Favoritestown.
How do I remove a favorite from Favoritestown?
On occassion you may wish to delete favorites from Favoritestown, heres how you do it:
From a room
To delete a favorite from a room:
- Open the option bar if it is not already visible.
- Click on the delete icon.
- When the delete form comes up, choose the orange box that indicates where your link is stored.
- Confirm that you wish to delete this favorite from the room.
From a file
To delete a favorite from a file:
- Open the option bar if it is not already visible.
- Click on the delete icon.
- When the delete form comes up, locate the favorite in the list.
- Click the x on the left of the favorite.
- Confirm that you wish to delete this favorite from the file.
Deleting all of your favorites
To delete all of your favorites:
- Open the option bar if it is not already visible.
- Click on the options icon.
- When the options form comes up, click reset all links.
- Confirm that you wish to delete all of your favorites.
Do I need to be connected to the internet to view my favorites?
Not at all, you can browse through your town of favorites whilst not connected to your internet connection if you have a dial-up connection. When you want to connect just click the link and it will launch your browser and connection.
Can I use my favorites on a computer other than my own?
Yes. Provided you have your "library.xml" file you can access your favorites from Favoritestown on any computer. The library.xml file can be found in the folder into which you installed Favoritestown (usually Program Files/Favoritestown. Copy it to a memory stick or send it to yourself as an email attachment on your browser email system. On the new computer download Favoritestown then copy the file back into the install folder, overwriting the blank file just installed. Just make sure you don't overwrite your friend's favorites by mistake!
